01. About KĀRVA

KĀRVA (SL / 001) is the dedicated sustainable goods and craft brand of Sustainability Lab.

Rooted in our founding principle of making use of what is already around us, KĀRVA operates as both a craft production studio and a hands-on material fabrication lab. We design, carve, mold, and finish goods that celebrate raw, honest materials: local timber, fallen leaves, natural slate stone, and bio-fibers.

02. Core Craft Disciplines & Product Lines

01

Wood Carvings & Heritage Joinery

Hand-carved functional artifacts, tableware, and architectural elements made from sustainably sourced and reclaimed timber, finished with natural plant oils and beeswaxes.

02

Natural Leaf Crafts & Tableware

Pressed natural leaves (such as local Sal leaves) formed into heat-resistant, water-resilient plates, bowls, and organic packaging without petroleum plastic laminates.

03

Regional Slates & Stone Works

Hand-cut and polished slate from regional quarries transformed into serving platters, desktop organizers, coasters, and tactile architectural surfaces.

04

Bio-Composite Material Fabrication

Structural molded goods utilizing agricultural residues and organic mineral binders, replacing petrochemical plastics in everyday consumer and interior applications.

03. The Fabrication Lab

Beyond finished goods, KĀRVA serves as an experimental material fabrication lab.

We work directly with architects, hospitality brands, interior designers, and institutions to fabricate custom sustainable installations, bespoke furniture, and tactile acoustic panels.

Our workshop brings together:

  • Master Artisans: Woodworkers, stone carvers, and traditional basket weavers who possess generational understanding of material behavior.
  • Design Researchers: Industrial designers who model joinery, ergonomic forms, and modular compression formers.
  • Ecological Chemistry: Developing natural plant-based resins, non-toxic waxes, and bio-mineral binders.

04. Our Sustainable Commitments

  1. 100% Non-Toxic Finishes: Never use polyurethane or toxic chemical clearcoats. Only food-safe oils, natural resins, and pure waxes.
  2. Zero Petrochemical Plastic: Every item is fully biodegradable or recyclable within natural mineral cycles.
  3. Fair Artisan Economics: Direct, dignified livelihood for local carvers, craftswomen, and material collectors.
  4. Circularity & Repair: Designed to age gracefully with a natural patina, and engineered for easy mechanical disassembly or repair.
